Overview

This project started in late 2018, when I was asked to create a new concept of game's collection app, where the player wouldn't just have a list of titles to choose from, but a dynamic collection of juicy solitaires that organically create a wholesome experience. Combining the most important solitaires, with this app, the players are able to climb leaderboards, get rewards from daily challenges and complete marathons.

Objective

For my team and I the goal of this project was to create something different to all the game's collections out there. The competition had some huge names, but we took our time in order to  truly design a unique product with a strong identity a logic behind. The concept of a hub, that later translated into the main menu section, was a staple in order to make the match challenges as important as the games themselves.

Process

Process Step 1: Brainstorming & Product Set Up

This first step was essential in order to understand how to achieve the dynamism we were looking for, for a game that could feel perceived as too traditional or even boring by the younger audiences. This challenge was much easier to accomplish thanks to this initial research, brainstorm and set-up phase, where we outlined some staples in order to make it fresh and modern without forgetting the tradition.

Process Step 2: Layout & Style Search

The second step of this game's creation was essential to choose what kind of identity we wanted to create. I explored different options, from more traditional routes to very minimalistic or 3Dish ones. We were happy borrowing from different styles that allowed us to keep it functional and fluid. The layout had to give an amazing user experience and the UI had to reflect the wide target audience.

Process Step 3: Production

Finishing the second step of this design process, we were all satisfied with the results, so I started creating the art pieces, assembling the mockups and exporting all the assets the developers needed to start coding and make it work. In this gallery there is a glimpse of what the game ended up looking like, some assets we used for the marketing campaigns and the logic behind some branding choices.
